Sally discovered Functional Medicine in 2009 after reading Dr. Mark Hyman’s book: The Ultra Mind Solution. “Dr. Hyman described everything I was trying to do within the conventional model.  The book came at a time when I was feeling so disenchanted with medicine and had thought about leaving medicine altogether. It gave me hope that we could change the way we practice. “

Sally is one of three nurse practitioners in her family and she and her sisters have always taught the importance of gut health, good nutrition and INDIVIDUALIZED care. She has been in healthcare for over 35 years, 20 of those as a nurse practitioner. Her background is so diverse which gives her a global picture of healthcare delivery. Her true passions have been GI, neuropsychic and neuroendocrine. Years of being a nurse has given her the gift of relating to people and understanding what makes them tick. “you can have all the knowledge in the world but if you can’t relate to people, and teach them, motivate them and honor them you can’t help them get better “She considers herself a health detective and is tenacious about researching to help people find the root cause of their symptoms.

A triple Northeastern University Huskie, attaining her BSN in 1985, MS in Primary Care Adult NP in 2001 and was on faculty teaching there after graduation. She returns each year to guest lecture and takes on NP students in her practice.

She attained her Post Master’s certificate from the Institute for Functional Medicine in 2016. She has attained certifications in digestive disorders, mold Illnesses, neuro/endocrine/psychiatric disorders and hormonal imbalances. (SIBO, IBS, Alzheimer’s, ADHD, anxiety, depression, migraine neuropathy, PMS, menopause to name a few) She heads up the Functional Forum in Rhode Island and has taken the group from 8 people to now over 120 on the list serve. She enjoys bringing like- minded practitioners together and building a team of clinicians to bring Functional and Integrative Medicine to Southeastern New England. Her goal is to have many of these clinicians under one roof and for a health center collaborative.
