Tired of the band-aid approach and the merry-go-round of doctors and medications?

Even tired of the down stream approach of other holistic providers?

You might ask, “How is Dr. Stein different from other functional medicine providers?”

She is the last stop.

If you need a modern medical and psychiatric Sherlock Holmes, she’s the premier diagnostic sleuth and she provides a multi-disciplinary team approach for chronic and persistent disease.

As an osteopathic physician and board-certified psychiatrist with 30+ years experience, Dr. Stein practices both traditional and functional medicine.  Dr. Stein employs a bio-psycho-social approach and a functional medicine approach informed by her extensive training and experience in psychiatry.

Dr. Stein will comprehensively analyze your history, symptoms, and health objectives to determine if there is a serious medical and/or psychiatric condition that needs acute or aggressive treatment through conventional means.  If not, Dr. Stein will do a deep dive to guide you through functional medicine alternatives to potentially resolve issues by making paradigm shifts in diet, lifestyle, and spiritual arenas.

She is interested in transforming your life so that you can be your best – clearer and sharper thinking, vibrant energy and mood, and feeling that you have a future.

THE PROCESS:

Dr. Stein will analyze the 39-page Intake form and review previous lab data, specialty testing/studies and consultations from other providers.  Even before she meets you, she puts your history on a timeline and starts to “connect the dots”.

At the appointment, she obtains the details of your story to fill the gaps from the paperwork, performs a full physical with structural assessment and mental status exam as needed and as time permits in the first 2-hour session. Infrequently, this information gathering requires more than one session. She may recommend state-of-the art specialty testing to assist diagnosis.

With her experience and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic psychotherapy, she is able track down the drivers of distress caused by disturbances in sense of self, dynamics of relationships, and perceived world view. Trauma is her specialty.

After the appointment, Dr. Stein will provide a 5-9-page optimal health plan laying out a summary of her thoughts and tailoring the intervention to your specific needs as an individual. She will provide specific interventions in diet, rest, movement, stress reduction and dietary supplements or medication to treat your conditions.  She will always seek the least invasive way to help your body restore balance. She seeks to partner with you to promote wellness and create hope, health, and healing.

On receiving the plan, some find the information overwhelming and the recommendations daunting. Creating steps and habits to implement the plan through health coaching assures success in meeting your goals. Included with the initial evaluation are six (6) health coaching sessions with Nancy Uston-John. Follow-up visits are every 2 months.
